Property Damage Claims

Fire Damage: In the event of a fire to a dwelling, immediately call the local fire department and make sure the building is evacuated. Do not let anyone into the back into the building until advised by the Fire Department that it is ok to do so. Contact A.I.R.’s claim department immediately to report the claim. We will need the exact location of the building to call it into the carrier. Make sure that after the fire is extinguished that the area has been secured. Start making list of damaged items and obtain any receipts if still available.

Theft Claims: Contact local police immediately. Secure any areas that may have been damaged due to break-in such as windows or doors. Start making a list of any objects that may have been stolen or damaged. If you have receipts for these items gather them to support what was stolen and the year, make etc.

Water Damage Claims: Get any water turned off. Contact a water extraction company to come out to start water removal, ie: Servpro, Servicemaster or local. Do not throw anything away, many of these companies can dry items to the point where they are useable. If the damage is due to sewer back-up do not go into the area – let the professionals do it. Start making lists again of damaged items with any receipts, age etc

General Liability Claims

Slip and Fall: Offer assistance to any party who is injured. If a camera is available, photograph the area or the object that party fell over or on. This helps the handling adjuster determine any negligence. Obtain the name and address of the party who fell and any witness information that you may have. Gather records of employees who secured or checked the local area. If there is video, obtain file and save same.

Inflatable Claims: As known, these occur in the course and scope of adults and children on inflatable devices. Again, offer assistance to injured parties. Determine if there are any known defects in the inflatable – if so, take it out of service. If the inflatable is one that is rented out, obtain the rental agreement for the handling adjuster to determine who may be responsible for any injuries to the unit. If video or photos are available, obtain and secure same. If a release was made by locate same for the handling adjuster.

Comprehensive Losses: Comprehensive losses are those losses which happen that do not involve a collision with another vehicle or object with the exception of striking an animal. They can be losses which involve hail damage, fire, wind, glass breakage, theft of vehicle and striking an animal as examples. If you have a loss, secure the vehicle as best you can. Cover it if possible to keep any further damage from occurring. Report it to the police if a theft or partial theft occurs. Call the loss into our Claims Department.

Collision Claims: These are claims that involve other vehicles or striking of objects. If you have a claim with another vehicle, contact the police immediately. Do not move vehicles if there are injuries otherwise, remove to a safe place (check local laws before moving vehicles off roadway). If possible, take a photo of the resting places of the vehicles before moving them as well as the damage to the other vehicle. Check and see if anyone is injured BUT DO NOT MOVE INJURED PARTIES. If it is necessary, seek medical treatment. Obtain as much information about the other party involved (if one) including the name, address, year and make of their vehicle and where the damage is and where any vehicles are towed to. Find out what police department came to the scene and where any injured parties were taken to. Call the claim into us.


Once a claim is reported to us we will then get it into the proper carrier who will assign it to an adjuster who will contact you or your driver. The adjuster may request a recorded statement in order to further investigate the matter. This is ok to give as long as you confirm that the adjuster is from your carrier. If in doubt, please contact the claims department to confirm that it is ok to give the statement. If an adjuster from the other carrier requests a statement, confirm that it is ok to give with your adjuster or the claims department.
